Volunteering as a Pack Burro Racing Photographer is a unique and rewarding way to support one of the West's most distinctive sporting traditions. Your photographs help preserve the history of pack burro racing while providing racers, families, organizers, and fans with lasting memories they will treasure for years to come.
No matter your experience level, if you enjoy photography and the outdoors, we'd love to have you join our team. Volunteer photographers retain the copyright to their images while generously allowing us to share them through PBRPhotos.org as part of our growing historical archive.
To provide comprehensive race coverage, we typically assign 3 to 5 photographers at each event. One photographer captures the excitement of the start and finish lines, while the remaining volunteers are strategically positioned along the course to photograph the athletes, burros, and spectacular scenery from a variety of perspectives.
Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the racing season. We post upcoming assignments as race dates and course information are confirmed, and our volunteers stay connected through the Pack Burro Racing Photographers Facebook Page, where we share race information, photography tips, and event updates.
Our volunteer photographers have documented many of the sport's premier events, including:
Whether you can volunteer for one race or several each season, your photographs help tell the story of this remarkable sport and ensure its legacy is preserved for future generations.
